Film Festival: Reflection
Ukrainian surgeon Serhiy (Roman Lutskyi) is ambushed, captured, and tortured by the invading military forces before being put to work by them, using his medical skills on his fellow prisoners. After bearing witness to horrific brutality, he must put his damaged psyche in order after his release, and his return to the comforts of his former life and family.
Film Festival: Stop-Zemlya
Sixteen-year-old Masha (Maria Fedorchenko) and her friends Yana (Yana Isaienko) and Senia (Arsenii Markov) are each feeling their way towards adulthood, testing boundaries and making mistakes. In her naturalistic style, Gornostai presents a rounded take through intelligent use of shifting viewpoints, allowing this generation, their faults as well as their humour and strengths, to come across as universally recognisable.
